Welcome dear reader to my own little hut in this space called Internet.
Who am I?
I’m FIE (FIRE is easy) and I live as an expat in a lovely country called Switzerland. All my life I have been fascinated with finances and saving, starting from an early age where I saved parts of my pocket money for bigger investments later. I’ve been pretty frugal my whole life. I’m an avid reader, and I’m constantly learning something new every single day.
Having worked for several of the largest companies in the world, my main background is in IT, outsourcing and management. Over the years, I’ve learned a lot about people management, intercultural skills, sales and still some more technical stuff. After I moved to Switzerland, I started several companies and therefore increased my knowledge in entrepreneurship as well.
For the time being, I prefer to blog anonymous. I’m the owner of several companies, and I don’t want my personal opinions and thoughts to interfere with my businesses.
What am I aiming for?
This blog is a means for categorizing and writing down my thoughts and feelings. Being a perfectionist for pretty much my whole life, I usually micro-optimize every little detail. By starting this blog, I’m following my new mantra “progress over perfection”. Looking back at my life so far, I usually had the best results when I took the leap of faith and did something without knowing all details beforehand.
What am I NOT aiming for?
Perfection. I’ve been a long-time reader and contributor in several forums, but so far I was really hesitant to start a blog. So far going back almost 15 years, just to give you an idea. I really love the exchange of ideas with other people in forums and in real life. I made contact with a lot of brilliant people, and getting to know them was a huge blessing. Still, most of those people never dared to start something on their own.
Another thing I’m not aiming for is to be the 5376th blog only talking about how to save and invest your money. The general ideas are pretty simple and can be summarized on one A4 paper. From my point of view, there’s simply no need to dissect TERs of ETFs or spend hours and days blogging about the 7th iteration of safe withdrawal rates.
Topics which will be covered
As the name of the blog suggests, I want to concentrate on the easy part of reaching FIRE. What can one do to make his or her life easier while striving to reach financial independence. The topics I’ll be writing about will cover a broad range of topics: from entrepreneurship to expat life, from personal and spiritual development to different points of view about life, from intercultural management to playing music.
